Teaching Resume (PDF)

In addition to an active performance career, Adam has extensive experience teaching multiple styles of double and electric basses. He has been teaching both instruments privately for over twelve years, with six years experience at the college level at Loyola University in Baltimore. His students have placed in Maryland All-State orchestra and jazz ensemble on multiple occasions, and have been admitted into some of the leading music conservatories and universities (New England, Peabody, Oberlin, etc) in the country.

All students will gain advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of playing bass, and will learn how to apply that technique to any playing situation and style of music they are interested in. Adam holds a graduate performance diploma in jazz studies from The Peabody Conservatory, a masters in double bass performance from Michigan State University, and a bachelors in music industry from James Madison University.

In addition to bass lessons Adam has experience teaching music theory, jazz improvisation, ear training, and small and large jazz ensembles at the college and high school level. He is available for instruction in any of these areas as well, and has advanced knowledge and experience in all.

Rates are $50 per hour lesson, $40 for 45 minutes, and $30 per half hour. I have a car and will travel to you for an additional fee. Additionally, I give an introductory lesson at the reduced rate of $20 to get a feel for where the student is and what they’d like to get out of lessons.
